Second Skin Aftercare:

  • Leave Second Skin on for 3–5 days if possible. If it leaks or begins to peel, remove it and switch to standard aftercare.

  • To remove Second Skin, gently peel it back over itself in the direction of hair growth, ideally in a warm shower. Use warm water and fragrance-free antibacterial soap (Dial Gold recommended) to help loosen the adhesive—do not remove dry.

  • After removal, wash the tattoo with antibacterial soap, then air dry or pat dry with a clean paper towel. Apply a thin layer of Aquaphor.

  • Wash the tattoo 2–3 times daily for 2–3 weeks. Let it dry for a few minutes after washing, then apply a light layer of Aquaphor each time, when you feel ready switch to non-scented lotion.

Classic Aftercare:

  • Leave the initial bandage on for 45 minutes to 1 hour. After removing it, wash the tattoo with warm water and antibacterial soap, then gently pat dry—do not scrub.

  • Wash the tattoo 2–3 times daily for 2–3 weeks. After each wash, allow it to dry for a few minutes, then apply a thin layer of Aquaphor, when you feel ready switch to non-scented lotion.

  • Do not rebandage the tattoo or allow tight clothing to rub against it. Avoid dirty towels, pet hair, pools, hot tubs, lakes, oceans, tanning beds, and direct sunlight during healing.

  • Healing takes about 3–4 weeks. Peeling, flaking, and a temporarily faded or shiny appearance are normal parts of the process.
